Hybrid Vehicle Line-up

At Brossard Hyundai, 8750 Taschereau Blvd, the 2026 Hyundai hybrid lineup — ELANTRA, SONATA, TUCSON, SANTA FE and PALISADE Hybrid, plus the TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid — combines a gasoline engine and an electric motor to cut fuel use, with no plug required (hybrid) or with charging (plug-in hybrid). Why choose a Hyundai hybrid?

Hyundai's alternative-fuel lineup delivers product benefits that make it a perfect choice for drivers looking for powerful, efficient and more environmentally friendly vehicles.

With hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants available across a wide range of products — the ELANTRA Hybrid, SONATA Hybrid, TUCSON Hybrid, SANTA FE Hybrid and PALISADE Hybrid — Hyundai's alternative-fuel lineup offers something for everyone.

Better fuel economy

Hyundai hybrids and plug-in hybrids use less fuel than their gasoline equivalents, especially in the South Shore's stop-and-go traffic. You drive more efficiently every day in Brossard, Longueuil and La Prairie.

Greater total range

By combining gas and electric power, you travel farther between fill-ups — handy for the daily commute and long trips alike, with up to 1,000 km of range on select hybrid models.

Regenerative braking

When you slow down, the system captures energy and recharges the battery. As a bonus, your mechanical brakes wear less, which can extend their lifespan.

Hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric?

Hybrid (HEV)

Using a full-parallel drive system, our hybrid models run on the gasoline engine, the electric motor or both. A selection of our hybrids can reach up to 1,000 km on a tank. The system seamlessly switches between gas and electric power to optimize performance and fuel efficiency. No charging required: it fuels up with gas like a conventional vehicle.

Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV)

Electric when you want it, gas when you need it. Compared with a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid has a larger battery that lets you drive on electric power only for shorter trips (up to about 53 km for the TUCSON Luxury Plug-in Hybrid). On longer drives it switches to the gasoline engine, reaching over 700 km on select models. The only hybrid type eligible for incentives.

Fully electric (EV)

No gasoline engine: the vehicle runs on electricity only, on the dedicated e-GMP platform. Hyundai offers the KONA Electric, IONIQ 5, IONIQ 5 N, IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 9, with range that can exceed 500 km. Discover the fully electric Hyundai lineup →

2026 plug-in hybrid incentives in Quebec

Important: only plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles — such as the TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid — qualify for government incentives. Conventional hybrids (HEV: ELANTRA, SONATA, SANTA FE, PALISADE Hybrid) do not qualify, but they cut your fuel use with no charging required.

Federal incentive — EVAP (up to $2,500 for a PHEV)

Since February 16, 2026, the Government of Canada offers, under the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP), up to $2,500 on an eligible plug-in hybrid (and up to $5,000 on a fully electric vehicle). The final sale price must be $50,000 or less, calculated under federal regulations.

Provincial incentive — Roulez vert ($500 to $1,000 for a PHEV)

The Government of Quebec's Roulez vert program offers $1,000 for a plug-in hybrid of 15 kWh or more, or $500 for a plug-in hybrid from 8 to under 15 kWh. The MSRP must be under $65,000 and the vehicle registered in Quebec before December 31, 2026 — eligibility is determined by the registration date, not the order date.

Home charger — Écorecharge ($600)

The Écorecharge program offers a flat $600 toward the purchase or long-term lease (36 months or more) of a certified Level 2 home charger, useful for charging a plug-in hybrid. As of April 1, 2026, the charger must be installed by an electrician holding an RBQ licence.

Frequently asked questions — Hyundai hybrids in Brossard

What is the difference between a hybrid (HEV) and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV)?

Both use an electric motor and a gasoline engine, and recover energy through regenerative braking. The difference: a plug-in hybrid has a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor, so it can drive longer on electricity alone. Once the electric range is depleted, the PHEV operates like a regular hybrid. A PHEV plugs into an external source; a standard hybrid does not.

How does a Hyundai hybrid work?

A hybrid vehicle (HEV) is a combustion-engine vehicle with an auxiliary electric motor. The electric motor captures energy and stores it in a battery. You don't plug in a hybrid: it fuels up with gas like a conventional vehicle but offers better fuel efficiency.

How does a Hyundai plug-in hybrid work?

A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is powered by a gasoline engine and an electric motor fed by a rechargeable battery. You charge it by plugging into a wall outlet or charging station, which provides electric-only driving range (up to about 53 km for the TUCSON Luxury Plug-in Hybrid).

Do Hyundai hybrids qualify for incentives in Quebec?

Only plug-in hybrids (PHEV), such as the TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid, qualify: up to $2,500 federally (EVAP) and $500 to $1,000 provincially (Roulez vert), depending on battery capacity and eligibility. Conventional hybrids (ELANTRA, SONATA, SANTA FE, PALISADE Hybrid) do not qualify, but they cut fuel use with no charging required.

Which powertrain is best for long commutes?

Hybrids offer strong efficiency in most driving conditions compared with gas vehicles. Plug-in hybrids add the ability to travel up to about 53 km on electric power (TUCSON Luxury Plug-in Hybrid), then operate like a hybrid over longer distances.

Is a Hyundai hybrid worth it in Quebec?

Yes, in most cases. A Hyundai hybrid uses less fuel than an equivalent gas model, especially in the South Shore's stop-and-go traffic and city driving around Brossard and Longueuil, where regenerative braking works best. With no charging to manage, it also suits drivers who do a lot of highway driving. For those who drive short daily distances and can plug in at home, the TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid adds up to about 53 km of electric range and eligibility for incentives (up to $2,500 federally and $500 to $1,000 provincially).

Do Hyundai hybrids and plug-in hybrids perform well in Quebec winters?

Yes. The electric motor delivers immediate low-speed torque, which helps maintain steady momentum in snow and slush and pull away smoothly on snow-covered roads. Several hybrid models — the TUCSON and SANTA FE Hybrid — offer All-Wheel Drive with multi-terrain modes, an asset on South Shore winter roads. The battery and hybrid system are built for the Canadian climate and covered for 8 years / 160,000 km.

Where can I service or repair a Hyundai hybrid (including the battery) in Brossard?

Right here at Brossard Hyundai, 8750 Taschereau Blvd. Because these vehicles combine a gasoline engine, an electric motor and a high-voltage battery, servicing them requires specialized diagnostic tools and training. Our technicians know Hyundai's hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains and use genuine parts, which protects your manufacturer warranty. The high-voltage battery is covered for 8 years / 160,000 km.

What is the maintenance cost of a Hyundai hybrid in Canada?

Cost varies by model and service needed. On average, Hyundai hybrid and electric vehicles tend to have lower maintenance costs than gasoline-only vehicles.

What warranty applies to Hyundai hybrids in Canada?

Hyundai hybrid and electric vehicles come with a 5-year / 100,000 km comprehensive warranty and an 8-year / 160,000 km warranty on hybrid and electric components (whichever comes first).

Where can I test drive a Hyundai hybrid on Montreal's South Shore?

Brossard Hyundai, at 8750 Taschereau Blvd, Brossard, Quebec J4X 1C2, offers test drives across the entire 2026 hybrid lineup: ELANTRA, SONATA, TUCSON (Hybrid and Plug-in), SANTA FE and PALISADE Hybrid. Sales phone: 1 (866) 848-0083.
