Hyundai Pleos Connect: What the 2027 Tucson's New System Means for You in Canada

Hyundai Pleos Connect: What the 2027 Tucson's New System Means for You in Canada

Shopping for a Hyundai and wondering whether you should wait for the new infotainment system everyone is talking about? It's a very good question, and it deserves an honest answer rather than a promise.

Pleos Connect, the essentials: it's Hyundai's new infotainment system, built on Android Automotive OS, with the Gleo AI voice assistant and over-the-air updates. The 2027 Tucson is the first North American model to offer it, starting in 2027. Canadian details are still to be confirmed.

Every time a new generation of screens and software arrives, the same worries come back: will my phone still work, will it be complicated, and will my current vehicle suddenly feel outdated? Here is what we actually know about Pleos Connect, and what Hyundai has not yet confirmed for Canada.

What I Hear in Conversations With Clients

In 23 years in this business, I've seen several generations of infotainment systems come and go. And almost always, the same hesitation shows up: "Maybe I should wait for the next model, right?" It's an understandable reflex, because nobody likes the idea of signing for a vehicle that will feel outdated six months later.

The trap is deciding based on a rumour rather than a date. Pleos Connect isn't a rumour: the system exists, it's already in production in Korea, and its arrival in North America is confirmed. What remains unclear are the details for Canada. That's exactly why it's worth separating what is confirmed from what isn't.

What Exactly Is Pleos Connect?

Pleos Connect is the Hyundai group's new infotainment system. It is developed by 42dot, the group's global software center, and runs on Android Automotive OS, the version of Android built directly into the vehicle.

In practical terms, your Hyundai becomes a software platform that can keep improving after purchase through over-the-air (OTA) updates, much like your phone. The system debuted in South Korea in 2026 on the Grandeur sedan, and Hyundai aims to equip roughly 20 million Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles by 2030.

The 2027 Tucson Will Be the First North American Model

The fully redesigned 2027 Tucson is the first vehicle sold in North America to receive Pleos Connect. Hyundai expects it at North American dealerships in 2027, and pricing has not yet been announced.

One detail worth knowing: according to Auto123, the plug-in hybrid version of the new Tucson will not be offered in Canada. For the other powertrains, Canadian details are still to be confirmed.

What Pleos Connect Brings to Your Daily Drive

  • A large screen. The 2027 Tucson offers a 12.9-inch or 17-inch centre display, paired with a 9.9-inch driver display.
  • A voice assistant that understands natural language. Gleo AI lets you speak normally, with no set phrases. According to Hyundai, it can adjust the temperature, find a destination and guide your route through simple conversation, and it can use live internet data.
  • Your phone is still welcome. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported. If you love your usual apps, nothing forces you to change your habits.
  • Apps built right into the vehicle. The Pleos App Market gives access to car-optimized apps, such as music streaming, without going through your phone.
  • Physical buttons are staying. Hyundai kept controls below the screen for the most-used functions, rather than routing everything through the touchscreen.

What Is Not Yet Confirmed for Canada

No Hyundai Canada announcement had been published at the time of writing. The information above comes mostly from Hyundai Motor America and the global announcement. Here are the points still to be validated:

  • Gleo AI in French. Support for French, and Quebec French in particular, has not been confirmed.
  • Connectivity and subscriptions. Hyundai has indicated that details on required connectivity will be announced closer to launch. Any data plans and their cost are not known.
  • Canadian mapping. In the U.S., preinstalled map data ensures navigation in areas with limited network coverage. Nothing has been specified for Canada.
  • Other models. The 2027 Elantra uses Pleos Connect in Korea, but Hyundai has not confirmed the North American version will get the same package.
  • Canadian Tucson trims. Screen size by trim and standard equipment are still to be specified.

We will update this article as soon as Hyundai Canada releases these details.

What I Recommend, Depending on Your Situation

I'm not here to pressure you. A new infotainment system should never be the only reason to delay or rush a purchase. Here's how I suggest you think about it.

Your lease or financing ends in 2027

You're in the ideal window to plan. Let's talk now so you know exactly where you stand when the Canadian Tucson details are published. To prepare for your end date, also read our article Hyundai Lease-End: Your Options Explained Clearly.

You need a vehicle now

Most current models already offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and current financing programs can mean real savings. Waiting for a model whose Canadian price and date are unknown also has a cost.

You're drawn to the Tucson, but unsure

Test drive a current model to confirm the formula suits you, then compare with what gets announced. You'll decide based on facts rather than the excitement of the moment.

You want a system with a smart voice assistant

Keep in mind that Gleo AI's French-language support is not confirmed. If it's an important criterion for you, it's a question to ask before deciding.

What Doesn't Change

A word of honesty, because my role is to be a trusted advisor, not a pushy salesperson. A vehicle that's good today stays good tomorrow. Hyundai's current models already offer complete infotainment systems, and new software doesn't change the reliability, the warranty or the driving quality of a vehicle you'll enjoy for years.

Pleos Connect is an interesting evolution, not a reason to panic or put everything on hold.

Our Sales Director's Perspective

The trap is deciding based on a rumour rather than a date. It's better to separate what is confirmed from what isn't.
